covid-19 pandemic response/clinic operations

HOW THIS AFFECTS OUR SERVICES

THE CLINIC WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE FOUR WEEK LEVEL 4 ALERT PERIOD FROM 26 MARCH TO 27 APRIL 2020 and LEVEL 3 ALERT PERIOD FROM 28 APRIL UNTIL 12 MAY 2020.

But this will be as per the directives we receive from the Government of New Zealand, Ministry of Health (MoH), Whanganui DHB, the National Hauora Coalition (NHC is a Primary Health Organisation which Castlecliff Health contracts to), the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, the Nursing Council of New Zealand and other national and local governmental authorities.

THERE WILL BE NO  FACE -TO -FACE CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN 26 MARCH AND 12 MAY 2020 WITHOUT PRIOR ASSESSMENT VIA TELEPHONE/VIDEO CONSULTATION:

When you book in for a consultation you will first be assessed by phone/video (further detail in the phone and video  consultations section  on this site) and the clinical team will make an assessment as to whether you may need a face-to-face consultation.   If the clinician/s deem a face-to-face consultation is necessary you will be asked to present to the clinic for a consultation in person.  This system has been established as per the regulations to protect yourself, our team, and our other clients from acquiring or spreading the COVID-19 infection.  Please note that this is not negotiable and we request that you work with us to help us serve all our patients without the risk of infection with  COVID-19.

AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & REQUEST FROM OUR TEAM:

These are difficult times and we advise that we are able to serve you better as a team only if all our clients adhered to the regulations imposed on the operators of essential services like ours.  We acknowledge that the COVID-19 pandemic has created stress at different levels and that it is justified that you may be anxious about your health in general or the COVID-19 pandemic in particular.  We cannot reiterate enough that our team has been working extended hours to establish alternate systems of working to ensure we continue to remain open and offers services to our clients.  No doubt they may not be to your preference but perhaps it is worth considering that these are times where we continue to do our best with the resources available to us as per the instructions from the government.

Please also note that our team members have been and will continue to be out on the frontline to ensure we support our community in the fight against COVID-19.  We  request that you consider that the team members have the same stressors as anyone else in the country today with regard to their own health and safety and that of their near and dear ones.  Please be kind to one another and to our team members as without them our service would fail.

Remote/Virtual Consultations

Face to Face/In-Person Consultations

Face to Face/In-Person Consultations

We continue to offer telephone or video consultations (as we did through Alert Levels 4 & 3).  We encourage our clients to adopt this means of consultation where it may be appropriate.  In some instances clients may be advised that they will first be provided a remote consultation which would act as a triage before booking them in for a face to face/in-person consultation if required.  Please remember to advise our front of office team member of your preference when you call for an appointment.

Face to Face/In-Person Consultations

Face to Face/In-Person Consultations

From hereon forwards we will be referring to face to face consultations as 'in-person' consultations.

Since the announcement of Alert Level 2 we have commenced an increased number of in-person consultations as per the regulations.  This is however still dependent on ensuring that an in-person consultation is justified for that particular client and that it can be conducted in a manner that is safe for the client, other clients on-site at the time and our team.

Consultations Summary

Please continue to request for repeat prescriptions on the phone as previously.   We request that where possible including for services like repeat prescriptions clients first call the clinic and make a request on the phone.  This helps us work towards limiting the number of people on-site in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19.  Prescriptions will continue to be faxed to the pharmacy of your choice without a charge for the faxing service.   You may incur a charge at the pharmacy, please discuss the same with your pharmacy.

As indicated in other sections, we continue to provide all general practice services.   Some of these services may be provided in a different manner in keeping with the regulations under the alert system for the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Please bear with us as we continue to aim to provide services with the least amount of disruption to our clients.

Please do call first to discuss with our team member/s which service you may need.

When you arrive at the clinic for your in-person appointment you will be expected to go through a triage process before your assessment.  This is required to ensure we abide by the regulations in limiting the spread of COVID-19.

Paperless Reception Process

We have gone 'paperless' at reception.  This means we no longer hand over appointment slips when you arrive at the reception.  This is to continue along the same lines of prevention of disease transmission as we adopted during the pandemic response.  Besides it augurs well for being environmentally friendly.

Social Distancing Etc.

Social Distancing Etc.

Paperless Reception Process

We advise that clients, support persons and visitors to the clinic continue to follow practices that would help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID 19 or for that matter any other respiratory infection.   This would include social distancing in as much as practicable, the use of hand sanitizers and covering your mouth/nose when coughing etc.
