We commenced extended hours general practice services on July 20, 2020 for our enrolled clientele by (way of booked appointments only). These operated from the hours of 05:00 pm to 08:00 pm on weekdays and from 08:30 am to 08:00 pm on Saturdays. Unfortunately due to a change in Alert Levels as part of the Pandemic Response to COVID-19 the extended hours services have been temporarily cancelled from 19 August, 2020. The website will be updated when we recommence extended hours services based on a change to the Alert Levels as and when they are announced.
We advise our clientele that booked appointments are necessary to be seen during extended hours. This is a unique service in Wanganui designed to cater to the needs of our clientele especially those who may find it difficult to see us during the normal working hours. There will be a learning curve for us as service providers initiating this plan and we request that clients work with us in making this a success for the community.
This is not a 'walk-in' service nor is it an accident and medical center or emergency department.
For all accident/urgent/emergency medical concerns we advise our clientele to continue to access care through the usual routes ie. via the Whanganui Accident and Medical Centre or the Emergency Department, Whanganui Hospital, 100 Heads Road, Whanganui.
The fees for consultations remain the same as during the normal working hours (please check section on fees for details). The fee structure remains the same in our effort to keep services affordable to our enrolled clientele. There may be an extra charge incurred for non-urgent services like a prescription etc if requested during extended hours.
Access onto the clinic premises for extended hours services will be through a pedestrian gate to the left of the main gate. The main gate will be locked for security reasons and parking will be on the street on Rakau Road. There will be security on-site for the safety of clients and staff. Please ensure that you follow the advice of the security personnel and staff when you present for your appointment.
Please note that during extended hours our phones will be on but may not be answered as we will be operating with a skeleton staff. If your call is for a repeat prescription or a message for our nursing team we encourage you to continue to leave messages on the appropriate line/inbox for us to get back to you the next day. If it is urgent or an emergency please continue to use the usual channels via HealthLine, the Whanganui Accident & Medical Centre or the Emergency Department, Whanganui Hospital.
